Witness an ancient life circle of the animal kingdom as majestic sea turtles make their journey to the shore to lay eggs.

Delight at the sight of their young hatching weeks later, making their perilous journey to the sea. Mon Repos supports the largest concentration of nesting of marine turtles. The mainland has the most significant loggerhead turtle nesting population in the South Pacific region. Join us to see the young’s hatching to help them to make their way to sea.

Day 1, Thursday 16 February 2022 (D)

Depart Toowoomba early morning to Childers on the way we are stopping for morning tea. Our second stop is the National Trust town of Childers. The township is set on top of rolling hills of red soil framed by green fields of sugar cane.

We visit the Paragon Theatre for a behind the scenes historic theatre tour. Time to explore Childers and purchase your own lunch. We take a drive through lush sugarcane fields to Bundaberg. Arriving in Bundaberg we check in to your Accommodation and have time to relax before dinner.

Day 2, Friday 17 February 2022 (B, D)

We have leisurely morning before we make our way to explore the Bundaberg Botanic Gardens, which covers 27 hectares of land and feature a variety of over 10000 trees and shrubs. Visiting the Fairymead House Sugar History Museum, a majestic plantation house, which our guide will tell us all about.

The Botanical Garden Café 1928 will be open for lunch at your own expense. After lunch we make our way to the Bundaberg Barrel for some great tasting of the well-known Soft Drinks. Before making our way to the Turtle, this evening we have time to relax at the Accommodation, before we head off for an early dinner. Then it is off to Mon Repos to visit the Turtle Centre with a guided tour. Experience firsthand the amazing sight of turtles nesting and tiny hatchlings emerging from their sandy nests to scurry down the beach towards the sea.

Day 3, Saturday 18 February 2022 (B, L)

This morning a leisurely start before we board the Bundy Belle for a relaxing 2.5-hour cruise on the beautiful Burnett River aboard the fully restored classic river ferry. After which we will have lunch at Grunskes by the River Seafood Restaurant. After our farewell lunch we then head home, we stop along the way for a short afternoon break. Thanks for joining this adventure with Premier Queensland.
