Witness an ancient life circle of the animal kingdom as majestic sea turtles make their journey to the shore to lay eggs.

 

Day 1, Tuesday 16 January (Morning Tea L,D)

We depart Toowoomba early morning to Childers on the way we are stopping at Nanango for morning tea. Our second stop is the National Trust town of Childers. The township is set on top of rolling hills of red soil framed by green fields of sugarcane. Time to explore Childers and lunch before we are visiting the Old Pharmacy, which is situated in the centre of Childers. Where we have a guided tour through the Old Pharmacy. Late afternoon we check into the Accommodation.

Before making our way to the Turtle Centre, we will have time to relax at our Accommodation, before we head off for an early dinner. After dinner we will set off to Mon Repos to visit the Turtle Centre with a guided tour. We’ll witness firsthand an ancient life cycle of the animal kingdom as majestic sea turtles make their journey to the shore to lay their eggs. Delight at the sight of their young, hatching weeks later, and making their perilous journey to the sea.

Day 2, Thursday 17 February (B,L, D)

This morning a leisurely start before we board the Bundy Belle for a relaxing 2.5-hour cruise on the beautiful Burnett River aboard the fully restored classic river ferry.  After which we will have lunch at Grunskes by the River Seafood Restaurant. After lunch we’ll make our way to the Bundaberg Botanic Garden. In the late afternoon we’ll make our way back to the hotel to relax before we meet again for dinner.

Early start to go the Lady Musgrave Day tour starts at 7.15am and returns at 5.30pm includes morning, afternoon tea and a buffet lunch. Access to the zero-carbon footprint Lady Musgrave HQ pontoon with licensed bar and dining facilities, Underwater Observatory on Lady Musgrave HQ pontoon, Glass bottom boat tour. Educational guided island walks, learning the history of Lady Musgrave Island and its natural lifecycle.

 

Day 3, Thursday 18 January (B,L)

After a lovely breakfast we make our way to Bundy Barrel to taste the soft drinks with a

self- guided tour. After that, our next stop will the Bundaberg Rum Distillery. Before joining our distillery guide, we are visiting the Museum and at the end of the tour we are returning to the Bundaberg Rum Tasting Bar, where we can sample some rums, which are available for tasting. We are stopping for lunch before heading home to Toowoomba.
