Day 2. Noosa to Fraser Island, B, L & D

Today, we have an early start as we embark on an exciting adventure to Fraser Island. We board the WD Tour bus for a scenic 2-hour drive through the beautiful hinterland of the Sunshine Coast, heading towards Rainbow Beach. Upon arrival, we’ll take a 30-minute ferry ride across to Fraser Island, offering stunning views of the coastline and nearby islands.

Once on the island, the adventure continues as we journey through sand tracks and dense hardwood forests in our 4WD vehicle. Our first stop is the iconic Lake McKenzie, renowned for its crystal-clear turquoise waters. Take time to swim in the refreshing lake or relax on the shore while soaking in the breathtaking surroundings. This serene spot is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature’s beauty.

For lunch, we’ll enjoy an Aussie-style bush picnic, savouring the flavours of the Australian outback. After lunch, we make our way to Central Station, a historic former logging station surrounded by lush rainforest. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to stroll along the Wanggoolba Creek Boardwalk, a scenic pathway that winds through the rainforest and follows the crystal-clear waters of Wanggoolba Creek.

As you explore, your guide will share insights into the island’s rich history, unique flora, and fascinating fauna. After an exhilarating day of exploration, we head back to Rainbow Beach for the return ferry ride to the mainland. The ferry journey takes around 30 minutes, followed by a 2-hour drive back to Noosa. Upon arrival, take some time to refresh and relax at your accommodation.

In the evening, we’ll head out for a well-deserved dinner at one of Noosa’s renowned restaurants to reflect on a memorable day.

Today, after breakfast in Noosa, we begin our journey towards Gympie, a picturesque town known for its historical charm. Upon arrival, we head straight to the Gympie Historic Station, where you’ll have time to explore the area before boarding the scenic train ride. As the train chugs along, enjoy stunning views of the Mary River, lush countryside, and charming towns.

The journey takes you through beautiful farmland, rainforests, and past historic stations. The train will make a stop at Amamoor Station, a quaint town nestled in the Mary Valley. Once we arrive, we continue to the famous Eumundi Markets, one of Queensland’s largest and most vibrant markets.

Wander through the stalls offering fresh local produce, artisan foods, and delightful treats—perfect for breakfast or a mid-morning snack (lunch is not included). After exploring the markets and enjoying your food, we head towards Maleny. As we travel through the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, enjoy the scenic route with breathtaking views of rolling hills, lush greenery, and farmland.

Upon arrival in Maleny, we check into our hotel and have some time to relax. In the evening, we gather again for a delicious dinner at a local restaurant. After a satisfying meal, enjoy a peaceful evening before retiring to your accommodation for the night.
