Exploring the Natural Beauty of Nambucca Valley: A Christmas Escape.

Nestled along the mid-north coast of New South Wales, the Nambucca Valley is a hidden gem known for its picturesque landscapes, tranquil beaches, and welcoming country hospitality.
There’s no better way to embrace the magic of this serene paradise than by spending Christmas in the heart of its beauty.
Whether taking in the coastal breeze or winding through the lush hinterland, Nambucca offers the perfect blend of nature and festive charm.

Day 1. Monday 22nd December 2025 – Home to Grafton, MT, L & D

We depart from Toowoomba at approximately 7:30 am for a 6-day Christmas tour.

Our first stop will be the Warwick Botanic Gardens (also known as Queens Park), where we’ll enjoy a relaxing morning tea. The park features large trees, and beautiful floral displays, and is the perfect place to unwind before continuing our journey.

After our break, we’ll drive along Palmerin Street, the main street of Warwick, known for its stunning heritage buildings. As we approach Kyogle, we’ll pass the Border Ranges National Park, offering breathtaking views.

We’ll then enjoy a lovely lunch at a local café before continuing our journey. In Casino, we’ll visit St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a well-loved local landmark with a rich history. Built in the 19th century, the church features beautiful stained-glass windows and intricate timberwork, making it an architectural gem.

Before reaching Grafton, the drive will take us through picturesque country roads and rolling hills, adding to the charm of our Christmas Tour. We are set to arrive in Grafton late afternoon, where we’ll settle in and enjoy the rest of the afternoon. Overnight in Grafton.

Day 2. Tuesday 23rd December 2025 – Grafton to Nambucca, B, L & D

After a lovely breakfast, we make our way to Ebor Falls, where we’ll be treated to stunning views of the waterfalls. We’ll walk along the designated tracks to the viewing platforms, offering panoramic views of the falls and surrounding scenery.

Next, we’ll head to the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre. This National Park is part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Dorrigo Rainforest Walk offers a peaceful stroll through lush rainforest, with interpretive signs providing insight into the local flora and fauna.

We have two options for our rainforest adventure: Skywalk: Enjoy a walk along the Skywalk platform, offering incredible views over the rainforest canopy and the surrounding valley. Rainforest Loop Walk: A 1.2 km circuit that takes you deeper into the rainforest for a more immersive experience.

This walk is suitable for all levels and takes about 30 minutes. We’ll then enjoy a lovely light lunch at the Rainforest Café before continuing our journey. We’ll travel along the Waterfall Way towards Nambucca Heads, where we’ll stay for the next 3 nights, ready to explore and enjoy the beautiful coastal town.

Day 3. Wednesday 24th December 2025 - Nambucca Surrounding, B, L & D

Our journey begins at the Bowraville Museum, a small yet charming spot that beautifully showcases the history of the town and surrounding area. Housed in a former school building, the museum is filled with a fascinating collection of local artifacts, photos, and stories from Bowraville’s past. Next, we make our way to The Pub with No Beer in Taylor’s Arm for a quirky lunch stop.

This unique pub has an interesting history — during a drought in the 1950s, a beer shortage left the town’s only pub without beer for a period, and thus it earned its memorable name. Afterwards, we head to the Trial Bay Gaol to delve into its captivating history. Located in the picturesque Arakoon National Park, this 19th-century gaol was once home to convicts who worked on constructing the nearby breakwater.

The site offers stunning views over the bay and surrounding beaches, making it a must-see destination. Our final stop takes us to the South West Rocks Headland Lookout, where we can enjoy panoramic views of the coast and Trial Bay. It’s the perfect place to snap some photos and take in the breathtaking scenery, offering a peaceful moment to reflect on the day's adventures, we’ll make our way back to Nambucca Heads and meet later in the evening for a well-deserved dinner.

Day 4. Thursday 25th December 2025 - Christmas Day, B, L & D

We’ll start the day with a relaxed morning before heading to Anchors Wharf Café & Restaurant for a special Christmas lunch. Nestled along the beautiful waterfront, this charming venue provides the perfect setting to unwind and enjoy a festive meal. With its inviting ambience and delicious menu, it’s an ideal spot to indulge in a Christmas feast while taking in stunning views.

After lunch, we’ll make our way to the Urunga Boardwalk for a peaceful stroll, taking in the serene surroundings and enjoying some fresh air. In the evening, we’ll gather for a light Christmas dinner at our accommodation.

The intimate and relaxed setting will be perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration. Surrounded by good company, festive cheer, and a warm atmosphere, it’ll be a wonderful way to end the day and celebrate Christmas together.

Day 5. Friday 26th December 2025 - Yamba, Illuka & Ballina, B, L & D

We’ll depart in the morning for Yamba, a beautiful coastal town known for its stunning beaches, rivers, and laid-back charm. Upon arrival, we’ll have some time to stretch our legs before boarding the scenic ferry trip to Iluka. We cruise along the Clarence River which takes about 1 hour and offers breathtaking views of the coastline and the river.

As we glide along the water, enjoy the serene surroundings and keep an eye out for local wildlife that may make an appearance. Upon arriving in Iluka, a small village surrounded by nature with peaceful beaches, we’ll have a relaxing lunch at the Wharf Café, where you can enjoy fresh, local dishes in a tranquil atmosphere.

After lunch, our coach will pick us up for the next leg of our journey to Ballina, giving us some time to unwind and prepare for the evening.

Day 6. Saturday 27th December 2025 - Ballina to Toowoomba, B & L

Today, we make our way back to Toowoomba, reflecting on what has been a truly wonderful Christmas week. We’ll depart for our first stop at the Duck Creek Macadamia Farm, where we can enjoy a delightful tasting experience.

Next, we’ll visit Farm & Co for an engaging farm tour, followed by a delicious 3-course meal. This will be a perfect way to wrap up our journey before we head home. As we reflect on the incredible experiences and the new friends we’ve made throughout our 6-day tour, we’ll cherish the memories and the festive spirit that made this Christmas so special.
