Day 1. Wednesday 6th May 2026 – Toowoomba to Roma L, D

Today, we’re departing early for our 9-day Outback Explorer Tour! Our first stop is the Chinchilla Museum, where we’ll enjoy a lovely morning tea. The museum offers a deep dive into the history of Chinchilla and its surrounding areas, including its Indigenous heritage, early European settlement, and the town’s development as a key agricultural and transport hub.

For lunch, we’ll stop in Miles, a small town located in the Western Downs region, known for its charming atmosphere and local history. Afterwards, our destination is Roma, where we’ll stay for 2 nights. Roma is a historic town in the Maranoa Region of Queensland, often referred to as the "gateway to the Outback." In the evening, we’ll experience a thrilling night show, filled with drama and intrigue, told through the eyes of a “Roma Rigger.” Dinner will be served at the accommodation.

Day 2. Thursday 7th May 2026 – Roma B, L, D

After a lovely breakfast, we’ll explore the town of Roma with a local guide who will join us for a couple of hours. Discovering the sights and secrets of Roma’s evolution into a vibrant outback town, with a knowledgeable and entertaining introduction to its history, agricultural heritage, and natural environment. We farewell our guide and enjoy a delightful lunch.

After lunch, we’ll visit a local station to learn about different farming techniques, which link to the coal seam gas industry, as well as the environmental aspects of the property. This visit offers a unique glimpse into life on an Australian cattle station. In the evening, we’ll enjoy a fabulous dinner at a local 55-acre property just outside of Roma.

Overnight Roma

Day 3. Friday 8th May 2026 - Roma to Charleville B, L, D

Today, we make our way to Charleville. On the way, we stop at the Mitchell Great Artesian Spa for a relaxing dip and morning tea. Mitchell is a small town in Western Queensland, known for its historic sites and access to the Great Artesian Basin, offering a truly unique experience. Next, we stop for lunch at the historic Hotel Corones, followed by a tour of this iconic landmark, which has been an integral part of the town’s history.

In the afternoon, we’ll visit the WWII Secret Base to honour and remember the stories of the American and Australian forces that served in Charleville during World War II. We’ll then head to The Bilby Experience, where we’ll enjoy a tour of the nocturnal house and witness the Bilbies in their natural night-time activities.

After an early dinner, we’ll make our way to the Cosmos Centre for Twilight Stargazing, where we’ll witness the wonders of the night sky through powerful telescopes and ignite a passion for astronomy. Please note: Warm clothing and a beanie may be recommended, as the outback nights can get quite chilly.

1 night Charleville

Day 4. Saturday 9th May 2026 - Charleville - Quilpie - Toogunna Plains, B, L, D

This morning, we’ll stop at the Outback Date Farm, where we’ll experience the wonders of the date palm on a working plantation. We’ll learn about the history of dates and their many health benefits. After our insightful visit to the Date Farm, we’ll make our way to Quilpie for lunch. Quilpie is famous for being part of the opal mining region of Queensland. The area is known for its boulder opals.

Following lunch, we’ll enjoy a scenic drive to our next stop at Toogunna Plains Farmstay, where we’ll be staying for the next 3 nights. Toogunna Plains is a fourth-generation sheep and cattle property. Stay in beautifully appointed ensuite cabins, then enjoy sunset drinks and canapes with views over the red sandhills.

End the day dining alfresco under the stars in the homestead garden – a truly unforgettable experience.

Day 5. Sunday 10th May 2026 - Tooguna Plains, B, L, D

Wake up to the stunning beauty of a 130,000-acre property and enjoy a gourmet cooked breakfast to start your day. Join our hosts for a morning station tour, offering a unique glimpse into the challenges and rewards of life on the land.

After lunch, relax with some free time to enjoy this expansive outback environment. We’ll savour another fabulous dinner tonight followed by marshmallow toasting and stargazing around the firepit.

Overnight Toogunna

Day 6. Monday 11th May 2026 - Farm - Eromango - Farm B, L, D

Start the day with a fantastic country cooking demonstration by our talented host Fiona or join Adam to explore more of the property. After lunch, we’ll visit the Eromanga Natural History Museum to meet Australia’s largest dinosaur, over 95 million years old.

Enjoy a one-hour tour, fossil demonstrations, and a multi-media presentation. End the day with drinks and canapés at sunset, followed by an exclusive five-course ‘Taste of the Outback’ dinner in the Museum’s stunning Reception Gallery.

Overnight Toogunna

Day 7. Tuesday 12th May 2026 - Toogunna - Quilpie - Cunnamulla, B, L, D

After bidding farewell to Fiona and Adam, we’ll drive back to Quilpie, where our local guide will join us for a town tour. Enjoy historic commentary as we explore highlights such as Baldy Top Lookout, St. Finbarr’s Opal Altar, and the Powerhouse Museum. We’ll also have time to visit the three museums and the Art Gallery at the Visitor Information Centre.

Next, we’ll head to Toompine Pub, known as "The Pub Without a Town." This iconic pub is an outback gem, famous for its remote location. Afterwards, we’ll travel on to Eulo for a refreshing stop at the Eulo Queen Hotel.

In the late afternoon, we’ll check into our hotel. For those interested, there’s an option to visit the Cunnamulla Hot Springs before dinner.

1-night Cunnamulla

Day 8. Wednesday 13th May 2026 - Cunnamulla to St George, B, L, D

Today, we make our way to St. George. Before we depart, we’ll visit the bronze statue of the Cunnamulla Fella in Main Street – a tribute to the Aussie larrikin stockman, made famous in the song by the late Slim Dusty. We’ll stop along the way for morning tea before arriving in St. George.

Our first stop will be River Sands Wines, where we’ll enjoy a vineyard tour, a wine tasting, and a delicious alfresco lunch in their relaxed garden setting. Later in the afternoon, we’ll enjoy a lovely Sunset River Cruise on the Balonne River. The river offers stunning views, especially at sunset when the sky changes colours and the surrounding landscapes are bathed in golden light.

The river meanders through the region, creating an idyllic backdrop for a peaceful evening cruise. After the cruise, we’ll return to our accommodation for a delightful dinner to cap off the day.

1 night St. George

Day 9. Thursday 14th May 2026 - St George to Toowoomba, B, L

This morning, we will travel to the town of Thallon, still within the Balonne Shire, to see the impressive painted grain silos. Titled ‘The Watering Hole’, this stunning mural beautifully portrays the Thallon district and its surrounding area. We’ll then continue to Goondiwindi, located on the banks of the Macintyre River, where we’ll stop for lunch at a local café.

Afterwards, we’ll head to Yelarbon to see the spectacular painted silos, which are part of the Australian Art Silo Trail. In the afternoon, we’ll make our way back to Toowoomba, wrapping up a day of unique outback art and scenic exploration.
